BENGE, Bettye 89, a long-time resident of Grand Prairie, entered into eternal life, Sunday morning, Sept 8, 2019. Visitation: 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, immediately followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial: 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at DFW National Cemetery. Betty Benge was born on Sept. 7, 1930 in Prescott, AR. Bet, as known by friends, was former owner of Bets Beauty Shop before working for more than twenty years at The Greenhouse in Arlington. She was a thirty-plus year member of First Baptist Church, active in various ministries, including The Sanctuary Choir, Serendipity Choir and the Master's Builders. She was a prayer warrior and head of the church prayer chain. She will be remembered for lifting up others, writing notes, letters and offering words of encouragement. Survivors: husband of sixty-eight years: John Benge; children, Jeffery Benge (Melissa), Martha Benge Walton (Richard), Robin Benge; grandchildren, Jessica, Rachael, Johnathan, Ricky, Delia, Zac; great-grandchildren, Hayzel, Katie and Brandon.
