Annette "charlie" Smith
Died
SMITH, Annette "Charlie" Annette "Charlie" Smith died Sept 20, 2019 at Parkland Hospital. She was 55. In recent years she described her profession as a "stay- at-home cat mom," but before this she worked as a bartender, server, and bookkeeper for local restaurants such as Dave & Busters and On The Border. She was, more importantly, a poet, who, for a while, performed songs that she wrote at various small venues in the DFW area. She had her demons, but she had mostly made peace with them. She fought the epic Battle of the Bottle and won, dry as a bone for years, but her liver was badly wounded in the struggle. She was a funny, kind, brilliant, generous, passionate, goofy, utterly obscure human being who brought light and love to the people and animals who were lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind her partner, Cindy, her parents, Victor and Nikki, her siblings Laura, Gary, Les, and Annette, her dear friends and neighbors, a dozen cats, some opossums, and countless raccoons. Services for Charlie will be held at the Unity Church on lower Greenville Avenue in Dallas at 3:00 pm Sunday October 6th. We thank the good people at Parkland Hospital and at University Hospital in San Antonio for their tender ministrations on Charlie's behalf.
