Bobbie Sledge

Died

SLEDGE, Bobbie Memorial services for Bobbie Sledge will be held at 2 p.m. September 28 at CC Young retirement community, where she resided. She passed away Sept. 14, 2019, in a Dallas hospital. Bobbie was born in Moran, Texas, Dec. 20, 1931, to John and Hazel Pettit, the sixth of seven children to those parents. She married Jack L. Sledge Sept. 12, 1949 in Cisco. They had recently observed their 70th wedding anniversary. Bobbie was the consummate homemaker, being a fulltime Mom as her husband's career as a petroleum engineer made a number of moves as his career advanced. They spent the last quarter-century in Dallas, where Bobbie was very active in her church, First Methodist Church, and especially enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday school class. She graduated from Moran High School in 1949 and met Jack who was then an engineering student at Oklahoma University. After he graduated, the couple lived in several oilfield towns in West Texas and New Mexico. She seemed to consider each move another exciting venture. Bobbie is survived by her husband, daughters Beverly (Bob) Fontaine and Melanie (John) Parkins; son Paul; and seven grandchildren, Darcie Fontaine, Abigail Jaye, Robin Kus, Jessica Roberts, Quinton Sledge, Kristina Savage and Lucas Parkins; and numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, Burle Pettit. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Sledge; and five siblings, Doris Randolph, John L. Pettit, Jack Pettit, Cleo Pettit and Wanda Pettit. CC Young is located in Dallas at 4847 W. Lawther Dr.
