Assunta M. Romano of Murray Hill, N.J., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Spring Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, Sept 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, Sept 28, at 10 a.m. (Gathering will begin at 9:30 a.m.) Interment will follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Passaic Ave, Summit, N.J. Assunta was born in Boiano, Campobasso, Italy, on Jan. 6, 1930. She was the daughter of Antonietta (nee Spina) and Salvatore Romano. She was a longtime resident of Murray Hill since October 1969 and worked at AT&T in Murray Hill for 18 years until her retirement. She lived in Jersey City, N.J. from 1961 - 1969.
She is survived by her loving son, Anthony, and her daughter-in-law, Karen (Nicolini) Romano of Syracuse, N.Y.; her dear siblings: Anthony Romano of New Providence, N.J.; Maria Lopa of Short Hills, N.J., and Teresa Nell of New Providence. She was the cherished grandmother of Gianna and Giordano Romano.
Assunta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Felice Romano; her daughter, Connie Romano, and siblings, Michael and Felice Romano.
