Catherine Elizabeth Hayser
HR specialist, lifelong Elizabeth resident; Mass is Monday
Catherine Elizabeth Hayser, 63, a lifelong resident of Elizabeth, N.J., died at home in the company of her loving husband, Jay, on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019, after a long struggle with cancer.
A graduate of Mother Seton High School, she was employed by Merck & Company & GP Strategies for the last 30 years as a human resources specialist and an organizational trainer.
She enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore and visiting Atlantic City, N.J. She enjoyed celebrating the holiday's with family and friends while preparing many Slovak desserts and cookies. She was also very proud of her Irish heritage. She was a communicant of St. Genevieve's R.C. Church, Elizabeth.
She was predeceased by her parents, Michael J. Orak Sr. and his wife, Catherine. Surviving are her husband, James E. Hayser, and her cherished pet, Maxie; a brother, Michael J. Orak Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bayville, N.J.; her mother-in-law, Kathleen Hayser of Cranford, N.J.; also, brothers-in-law, Michael and his wife, Kathy, of Sherman, Conn., Leo and his wife, Barbara, of Tybee Island, Ga., and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Farrell and her husband, Michael, of San Diego, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth, N.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church, 300 Monmouth Rd., Elizabeth. Entombment is in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J. Visiting is Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
