Antonia (Sanchez) Platas, 87, of Linden, N.J., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at 9 a.m., in the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 E. Blancke St., Linden. The Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Elizabeth Church, Linden, at 10 a.m. Interment is at Rosedale Memorial Park, Linden. Visiting is on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Please visit www.leonardleefh.com.
Antonia was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She came to the United States in 1947, settling in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Linden in 1963.
She worked for Park Plastic's in Linden for many years as a machine operator before the company closed. She was a member of Club Espana in Newark, N.J.
Antonia was predeceased by her loving husband, Francisco (Frank) (Paco) Platas, who passed away in 2013, and her son, Anthony, who passed away in 2018. She was the loving mother of Frank of Burlington, N.J., and Marisa Irizarry of Olathe, Kan.; sister of Elsa Rocco of Ringwood, N.J.; cherished grandmother of Jacqueline, Rafael, Kristina, Francis, Michael, Taylor, Zachary, and the late Jessica and Amber, and great-grandmother of Janaya.
